DRAMA FESTIVAL 2004
As I’m sure you are aware, the Drama Festival has
been a great tradition of Dominican College for many years. This year however, we are giving the
Festival a makeover! A “Celebration of
the Arts” will take place over a weekend, with workshops on Saturday 19th
June from 9.30am to 5.30pm and Sunday 20th June from 2pm with a
performance and display for parents and friends at 3pm.
All pupils in Years 8 and 9 will have the
opportunity to participate in a workshop of their choice.
There are SIX workshops to choose from:
Hip Hop Dancing (may initially open to boys only)
Pop Video and Modern Dance
Acting
Sound and Lighting Design
Costume and Set Design
Stage Make Up
These workshops really are a unique opportunity to explore an area of the Drama in more detail and to learn and gain new
skills. The workshop leaders are professionals and experts in their field and the final performance and display
promises to be exciting, innovative and entertaining. In addition to the new skills and experiences the
young people will gain, they will also receive a certificate of participation on completion of the workshop.
I would strongly encourage all the young people to seize this opportunity and use the workshops to learn more about Drama
particularly in an area they have not had a chance to participate in before. There is a small charge for £8
to help offset the costs involved in running the workshop weekend. All participants are asked to provide their
own packed lunch on the day of the workshops. If you give your permission for your young person to attend these
workshops, please complete the form overleaf and return it to me with payment
by 4th June 2004.
