THE ALL NEW DRAMA FESTIVAL AT DOMINICAN COLLEGE, JUDGED
BY LOCAL CELEBRITY, ZOE SEATON, (BIG TELLY THEATRE COMPANY)
It had the atmosphere of the X-Factor and talent to rival the Oscars. It was
of course, the All NEW Dominican College Drama Festival 2006. All students from
Years 8 and 9 took the opportunity to take part and received a certificate of
participation for their efforts. They all competed against each other in their
Drama classes and one duologue performance and one small group performance from
each class were choose to attend the final in the Assembly Hall on Friday 16th
June.
In the rehearsal period leading up to the final, all pupils had to arrange their
own costumes, props and set. Each duologue and small group performance could
choose to appoint a Director and so some pupils had their first taste of
directing others for performance.
On the night of the final the atmosphere was electric with the hall full of
supportive parents and friends and local theatre director, Zoe Seaton of Big
Telly Theatre Company who kindly gave up her time to come along and adjudicate
the competition. Each class had brought along their own supporters who had made
banners and posters to cheer on their class mates and as the actors, actresses
and directors performed their extracts from a range of plays, the tension was
building backstage.
After careful deliberation, Ms. Seaton presented cups, trophies, medals and
certificates to the deserving winners in a wide range of categories. All
students were all awarded medals for their achievement of reaching the final.
Ms. Seaton commented on the excellent talent of the students and clearly enjoyed
the evenings’ performances. Dominican College would like to thank Zoe Seaton for
the giving of her time and for her kind words of support for the students.

Dominican College Students celebrate their success at the All NEW Drama Festival 2006.
