A selection of Year 13 and 14 Religious Studies pupils had the opportunity to attend a conference for young people in the Millennium Forum, Derry.

The conference was hosted by Jean Vanier, the founder of the L’Arche Community and a man referred to by many as ‘a prophet of our time’. Jean took the opportunity to open the audience’s eyes to the enriching experience of working with people who experience severe disabilities. He has dedicated his life to providing people with homes where their special needs are accepted and their unique contribution is valued. His wisdom was evident as he guided the audience in an exploration of how society often rejects people without realising their value and how we can adjust our attitudes to embrace all.

This was a truly amazing experience that will live on in the memories of those present.
