Mr Crutchley provides this match report from yesterday's game.
The year 8 boys faced their toughest opposition yet at the warren on Thursday 12th, Coleraine College.
Dominican didn’t manage to get a handle on the game until about 10 minutes in. Good pressure and play from the mid field allowed Christy to sprint down the wing and get some quality crosses into the box but unfortunately no one was there in support to put it in the net.
Coleraine came fighting back with excellent exchanges in the middle of the park.
Dominican made the decisive breakthrough 15 minutes into the half with Scott slipping the ball between the keeper and near post 1-0.
Coleraine were persistent in attack calling on Paddy to be at full stretch to keep the ball out of the net. A breakdown in communication saw Aaron Doherty pass the ball back to Paddy who wasn’t ready for it.
Coleraine pounced on the ball but Paddy Mullan was strong enough to see it off for a throw in.
Second half saw Coleraine come out of the blocks stronger with changes raining down from 6 – 18 yards from goal. However, the watertight back four worked hard to keep a clean sheet.
Dominican were again putting Coleraine under increasing pressure, Michael combining with Christy, Scott, Robert and Frank worked some great moves, taking on defenders and ultimately another second goal, scorer – Robert.
Coleraine strung together great pieces of play in the middle of the park but were unable to break through.
Dominican deserved their 2-0 victory Man of the Match - Michael Gilmore
