Mr Crutchley has written this report following the Dominican Year 8 team's victory in today's final.
Today’s final saw two teams who had won all of their league matches throughout the season. It was going to be a tough match. DCP kicked off and started off on the back foot with lazy passing and poor communication.
Limavady played the better football putting a neat series of passes together and making hard challenges to retain possession. It was Dominican who had the better chances in the first half with Scott Watton having a swipe, Michael just being off target and Christy coming close with a near shot effort.
In the second half Dominican started to play better and become somewhat more composed on the ball. Michael Gilmore controlled the middle of the park well seeing off opposition.
Aaron Doherty was exceptional at the back putting in some crucial challenges to prevent the strikers breaking through.
It wasn’t until about seven minutes left whenever Christie took the ball down the right side, round a couple of defenders and slid across into the 6 yard box and Scot was there to slot the ball into the back of the net.
A nervous couple of minutes followed with Aaron Doherty rising to the top of the game. Frank Stinson came close to another goal, although it stuffed it up. The final whistle sounded and Dominican were the victors, champions of the B division.
Special mention has to go to all players including subs, supporters and all those who attended training throughout the year.
Thank you for all your effort and commitment throughout the year. Your hard work has been rewarded.
