By means of their involvement in the Readon Campaign, Dominican College pupils from Years eight , nine and ten have raised £2,150 for the NICFC. This now brings the total money raised in the school by sponsored reading programmes for last five years to £8252.
Ms Rachel Burgoyne, a representative of the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund For Children (NICFC) informed her audience in school that she was delighted to see Dominican’s involvement in the 2010 Readon initiative go from strength to strength . She expressed her surprise and delight that, in very trying economic times, pupils had worked hard to surpass last year’s totals.
Rachel told pupils today ,“You have certainly made a difference in your reading ; not only in promoting your own love of reading but also by providing economic help to families dealing with cancer.
