Principal's Welcome

Thank you for visiting our web-site. Dominican College, Portstewart is a Catholic Co-educational Voluntary Grammar School located right on the north coast of N. Ireland, overlooking the Atlantic ocean.

The school is unique amongst Catholic Grammar Schools in Ireland in that it is home to many pupils and staff from other Christian traditions who value the inclusiveness which a Catholic School can offer as it lives out its Christian faith.

The Dominican Order has made an enormous contribution to education in Ireland and throughout the wider world and this is especially true in Portstewart. There are no Dominican Sisters on the staff now and the Convent, which was established along with the school in 1917, now forms part of the main school but Dominican Ethos is evident and the school strives to educate in the “Dominican Way”.

Dominican College, Portstewart enjoys an enviable reputation within the local and wider community. It exists for its students. We value the uniqueness of each individual and strive to develop the “whole person” This means that we aim for academic excellence within a context in which the physical, spiritual, moral and social dimensions are encouraged to thrive.

If you are a past pupil of the school – welcome back – we would love to hear from you, wherever you are in the world. To all who are visiting this site, I would encourage you to explore and find out more about Dominican College, Portstewart.
